Arvind Kejriwal, who got nabbed by the Enforcement Directorate in March, just got a temporary pass to hit the campaign trail for the Lok Sabha elections.
In New Delhi, the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made a comeback to the scene on Saturday, hosting his first press conference and hitting the streets for his election campaign, right after the Supreme Court cut him some slack with a 21-day interim bail. Kejriwal, the big shot of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), got tangled up with the Enforcement Directorate in some money-laundering mess related to an old Delhi liquor policy.
At the AAP’s office in the capital, he explained why he stuck around as CM despite folks asking him to step down since his March 21 arrest. “I ain’t all about that Chief Minister title. I stayed put ’cause they tried to push me out on some fake charges,” Kejriwal say” . The BJP had been on his case for not throwing in the towel despite being locked up for 50 days. Kejriwal had some words for Modi too, saying the PM’s been gunning for AAP by throwing their top brass behind bars.
But Kejriwal’s not letting it get him down. He’s like, He’s expressing that AAP isn’t merely a political party; it embodies a complete atmosphere or essence.. The more they try to squash us, the stronger we bounce back.”
He gave a shoutout to the supporters, saying their prayers and some divine intervention got him through. Then he talked about his time behind bars, how he was always thinking about the people’s welfare. He’s all about those schools and hospitals, and he’s not letting anyone shut him down.
So yeah, the Supreme Court’s giving him a pass to campaign for now, but he’s gotta face the music right after the elections wrap up. But until then, Kejriwal’s hitting the streets, shaking hands, and drumming up support for those Lok Sabha votes.
